That's right! They said it! Get up off your ass and make a podcast! This month the Freaks strike off in a different direction. This podcast is part how-to and part pep talk, but the long and short of it is, it's what they wished someone had told them when the Freaks decided to make a podcast. THE WORLD NEEDS MORE PODCASTS! WAIT! BEFORE YOU LISTEN TO THIS EPISODE CHECK OUT BACK TO THE BINS #65! < YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED! WELCOME BACK TO THE MOST AWESOME PODCAST ABOUT THE GOLDEN AGE DC CHARACTERS EVER! It is a lean and mean episode this week as Scott and Mike were pressed for time but it is solid nonetheless! This issue, All-Star Squadron#8, kicks off with Steel fighting the Black Assassin, a villain Scott believes is misnomered because the guy ISN'T black (and if comics had taught Scott one thing, it's that if a character has the word "black" in their name then they are supposed to be black)!! Then we get a re-worked version of the first half of the unpublished STEEL: THE INDESTRUCTIBLE MAN#6, which proves to Mike that his high opinion of Don Heck's work on STEEL was colored by Ordway's inks over Heck's pencils in this and the next issue of ALL-STAR SQUADRON. So all of that is composed of pure, 100-proof awesome, right? Nothing could possibly mess that up, right? WRONG! Kung the Assassin shows up and stinks up the joint. Seriously. This guy sucks out loud. Thankfully this doesn't ruin the story and proves to be a mild speed bump in an otherwise fantastic issue. The issue commentary is followed by a fairly long, but fascinating discussion on the merits of Jerry Ordway's current art, which leads to talk of Superman and Captain Marvel. It's a lengthy digression, to be sure, but was a lot of fun to record! Finally, the guys dive into Elsewhere in the DC Multiverse and that rounds out the episode!
NEXT WEEK! ALL-STAR SQUADRON #9 AND THE END OF WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED TO STEEL!
YOU GOT THAT?!! GOOD! CUZ IT WILL BE THE MOST EPIC THING SINCE EVER ALL OVER AGAIN!!

Oh, it's all here this month in Comics Monthly Monday!! We got yer Redneck Space Pirates vs. Asgardians -- all in the name of poisoning children with sugar and fat!! We got yer Comic Bag -- involving two unrelated stories (one with a gun and one with the moral "don't unbag a comic shop back issue without asking!"). We got yer John Byrne with The Uncanny X-Men 109 in which the evil and twisted Canadians ruin a tranquil mutant picnic. What? THAT AIN'T ENOUGH?! Ok, wise guy, chew on some Swamp Thing here! We gots issue 21 -- The Anatomy Lesson!! Maybe you've heard of this story? It was written by some guy named Alan Moore. Lastly, JUST FOR LAUGHS, we'll chop off three more issues of The Walking Dead for you to gnaw on. NOW GET OFF MY LAWN!! ONCE AGAIN, THE MOST AWESOME THING TO HAPPEN TO THE INTERNET (SINCE FREE PORN ANYWAY) IS AVAILABLE FOR YOUR LISTENING PLEASURE!!
TALES OF THE JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA is back and Scott and Mike are both tanked up on Jolt cola and Hostess fruit pies, so this is going to be a good one!
First up, the guys talk about ALL-STAR SQUADRON #7, which is set during the Christmas of 1941 leading Scott and Mike to talk about the whole Christmas in July experience from when they were younger and lived in the north. They have predominantly positive things to say about the issue as a whole, mostly because it contains one of THE BEST Nazi themed super-villains ever -- BARON BLITZKRIEG! We even catch up on how the JSA is handling military life and are treated to a TRULY AWESOME sequence of Robotman beaching a Nazi submarine!! Does it get any cooler?!
Well, there's also the usual historical notes and commentary. There aren't much in the way of ads this week and, sadly, the guys discuss their (gasp, choke, sob) FINAL HOSTESS AD for this series!!
But it is a doozy , folks, and features the Dread Avenger hisself -- The Batman -- fighting a guy in a dog costume.
Not the Dark Knight's finest moment, I'll grant you, but it is made of 100% COMEDY GOLD!
After a quick break, the guys return with the Huntress back-up from WONDER WOMAN #277. It's a pretty basic story with the Huntress considering her options on what to do about the fact that D.A. Sims knows her secret identity -- and one of these options is... MURDER!! Also, we get the "big reveal" on just what is up with that secretary from Helena's law firm -- and this is where Mike really starts disliking the story, leading to one of the few big disagreements between Scott and Mike that was finally settled in The Thunderdome!
Two men entered and... well... two men left because Scott and Mike are really out of shape and got tired and decided to go have Mexican at El Ranchero in Peachtree City, GA (which is surprisingly close to Bartertown).
Anyhoo, you get all of that!! AND some e-mails before the guys ran out of time -- but they promise to read even more e-mails next time!! How about that, huh?!
NEXT WEEK: ALL-STAR SQUADRON #8
YOU GOT THAT?!! GOOD! CUZ IT WILL BE THE MOST EPIC THING SINCE EVER!

Well, we already tackled the underappreciated talents in comics, so now it's only natural that we discuss... THE COMPLETELY OVERRATED TALENTS IN COMICS!! Join hosts Scott H. Gardner and Michael R. Bailey, along with guests Jose Rivera and Chris Honeywell, for a fun and (mostly) light-hearted discussion (with a peppering of good ol' fashioned fanboy ranting) of some of the most overblown, overhyped, and overinflated comic book writers and artists EVER. Who makes the list? Listen to find out, lazyass!!
